Pulling Threads is a weekly podcast from brothers Alex and Troy Cleary. Mostly talking shit, occasionally to great people…
The premise is simple: every week, life hands you a thread — a stupid renovation, a race that breaks you, a scam that nearly costs you four grand, a mate doing something extraordinary — and we pull on it until it unravels somewhere interesting. No script, no guru act, no ten-step framework for optimising your morning. Just two blokes having the conversation you’d have if your Sunday arvo beers came with microphones.
Alex is an electrician who works in underground mines in Africa — weeks on, weeks off, which is why half the episodes open with him jetlagged. His story runs from booze and chaos to cold showers, 100km runs and discipline by choice. He once ran a marathon in Antarctica for the Black Dog Institute, in memory of our sister. He is the one who talks you into things.
Troy is the one who gets talked into things. He’s the reason the show is listenable — the grounding point, the voice of the bloke at home going “yeah but why would anyone do that?”. He recently ran his first 50K ultra and beat Alex by twenty minutes, a fact Alex would like struck from the record and which will therefore be mentioned in every second episode forever.
